Getting Re-Focused This Year…
Been doing what I enjoy doing this time of year…reflecting and revisioning. Looking back and looking ahead. Praising God for what He has done, praying and planning for what He is going to do. This is such an important time in the rhythm of my year because if I don’t do it, it is so easy to spend my life reacting to rather than acting on it. I have deemed this week the week of intentionality in the Shock household, creating a list of things that I want to do more of this year and mixing it with a list of things I want to do less of this year. Here’s the rough draft, shoot from the hip list…
Be less critical
Be more affirming
Be less angry
Be more joyful
Listen for and to God more
Obey more
Complain less
Read the scripture more
Put others first more
Be more honest/genuine
Work harder
Be more faithful with the little things
Memorize more scripture
Date Jada and the kids more
Serve others more
Watch TV less, hunt less, surf the web less
Sacrifice for Jada and kids more
Take more risks
Be more aware of weaknesses and surrender them to God
Manipulate less
Be more pure
Be more focused
Own my issues more and seek forgiveness
Speak and live the Gospel more
BTW…This list drives me to a deep and genuine love of the God that makes each of these possible through His Gospel.
